My wife and I have been seasonals here for many years and have never seen or heard the ridiculous comments like this from any of the other seasonals. The reviewer was only here for one year and stirred up so much drama she was asked to leave. The points she makes are so exaggerated and wrong. The owners are nice people and run a beautiful family friendly resort.They definitely do not deserve the nasty, negative review. The resort has no trouble filling seasonal sites. Don't let the bad reviews stop you from enjoying a great stay here, whether for a short time or seasonally. We love it here!!
If you are looking for a family-friendly campground then this is not for you! Lisa the owner likes to say things are my way or hit the highway! She even has a sign next to the till. This campground is filled with lots of drinking and drama. The owners like to drink upside down from kegs with their kids while the grandkids watch . Campground rules only apply to some people and not to her family at all. If you're a seasonal she can kick you out at any time and not give you a reason. If you're a seasonal they require keys to your camper. They were in our camper many times without our permission. They also do not fill your camper propane tanks full . I only gave it one star if I could I would've gave it none! The owners do not stay at the campground in the winter they live pretty far away so sometimes there are many break-ins during the winter. Lots of times they also take trips during the summer during the busy time So the lodge and store is not open when it is supposed to be. She uses the laundry room to clean the bedding from the cabins and sometimes locks the door for four days! I found things added to my charge at the store that were not even mine. The 30 amp service is awful you can not run anything if your air conditioner is on and some of the campers have really dim lights because the electrical needs to be upgraded. Somehow she removes all her bad Facebook reviews and only the good ones stay. Everyone at the campground walks on eggshells around the woman owner . May Day May Day May Day May Day...... don't go through the hard work of hauling in a camper and setting it up and putting up a deck only to be disappointed or kicked out for no reason just because she decides she doesn't like you. If you're looking for a place to stay and beautiful South or North Twin Lake Pinehurst is only 3.5 miles away . The owners there are super friendly and honest . Happy camping is not what I would call Elkhorn.

Love this place! When we started at this resort, my husband and I knew nothing about camping. Al & Lisa took their time to help us get our camper in the spot and situated. They were extremely helpful in showing us how everything worked and attaching our plumbing. Our son came as a shy, non-social child and because of Al & Lisa's attention to him and our nieces - he loves coming out and enjoying time with other kids and them. We have also been able to grow our "family" circle because the other campers have been so good to us to. The fishing is great, the friends are fun! Also, love the weekend themes - who else celebrates Halloween and Christmas twice a year!
We've been camping at Elk Horn off and on for over 8 years, the the last 3 as seasonals. We've camped many a place and have always come back to Elk Horn. The land and views are gorgeous and it's not overly-crowded like many other places. Fishing is good and the beach is great for the kids. Al & Lisa work so hard to make it a great, family place. Each year they make improvements and it just keeps getting better!
Been going here since 1979. Good for young children. Al & Lisa are great people. They treat you like family.
